REVIEW

The long-awaited debut album by J Boogie's Dubtronic Science is finally here, and was it worth the wait? We'll have to be honest and say: YES! Well-described as "smokin' hip hop beats, sexy dubs, and beats for your sheets", this eponymous CD boasts a plethora of musical talent: saucy singing from the likes of Goapele, Omega, Bamuthi, and Gina Rene; slick lyrics from Raashan, Capitol A, Tony Moses, and People Under The Stairs; and jammin' session musicians such as Simone White, Quinn Luke, Gabby Lang, Carlos Araiza, and Todd Simon. Along with J Boogie on the keys, sampler, and turntables, we've got some of the hottest acts in town right here on one bill. The album is dubby, soulful, international, and even poppy -- check Real Audio"Rainfall" for crossover appeal. It's sort of like Thievery Corp. meets Mary J. in a jazz club ... You won't need to turn up the bass either; tracks like Real Audio"Rainfall" are bottom heavy and bootylicious, just the way J Boogie likes it. Turn it up and get it on.
