WHAT IS FABRIC8?

fabric8, established in 1995, features unique, quality goods by urban independent designers. Based in San Francisco, CA, we work directly with over 100 companies from 16 North American cities and ship to destinations all over the world.

fabric8 has received numerous accolades and publicity in over 10 years of business online and recently opened a satellite store in San Francisco.

The company was founded by Olivia Ongpin and Antony Quintal, who perceived the Internet as an ideal medium for building a community that supports creative, independent design. fabric8 has grown to represent many aspects of independent, underground fashion, music, art, and culture, and will continue to promote genuine DIY business.

IS IT BETTER TO SHOP ONLINE OR IN THE STORE?

Whichever way you prefer to shop is fine by us! However, not everything online is in the store (and vice versa), so you can order online and pick up in the store to ensure that what you want will be waiting when you visit.

Our shop features art and other one-of-a-kind collectibles by established local artists that are not available online because they come and go quickly.

The website has a larger selection of t-shirts, clothing, and music not exhibited in the store, though stored in the back. Feel free to bring in a list of items you want and, in most cases, we can bring them out for you.

 

 

DO YOU HAVE A PRINT CATALOG?

No. We update our online catalog frequently, so not having to print new catalogs saves us time, money, and lots of trees. Please feel free to email us anytime with questions about our products.

 

 

DO YOU ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL ORDERS?

We accept orders from anywhere in the world. However, please note that international orders require a higher degree of security, so you will need to provide additional information. Order processing time may also be a little longer.

International orders are shipped by registered airmail, insured parcel post, or international express mail, all of which include a a flat fee for added security. Therefore, the more items you purchase, the more reasonable the shipping costs become.

Lastly, please note that, since each country's customs office deals with mail-order packages differently, we cannot be responsible for any VAT (value-added tax) imposed by your government.

 

 

HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER ONLINE?

It's simple once you get over the fear of actually doing it. Each of the product pages has an order form, which you fill out before clicking "order it". Our online ordering system stores this information in your shopping cart while you peruse the site, so you can order one thing, then continue shopping by using the navigation on the top of the order summary page.

When you are ready to purchase, click the "checkout" button. This will send you to an order verification page before zapping you to our secure transaction system, which encrypts all of your confidential information during transmission. You will know that your order is complete when you receive an automated email confirmation.

If that's all just too hi-tech for you, you can always print out the order form and fax/mail it to us, or call our toll-free number, 10AM to 6:30PM PST: 888.554.4321.

If you are paying by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or JCB, we will process your order right away. If you are paying by US check or money order, we wait until we receive payment to process your order.

 

 

HOW DO I KNOW MY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IS SAFE?

We use the industry standard, Netscape's Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to protect your billing information during transmission. Once we receive the encrypted data, it is stored securely behind a firewall using Pretty Good Privacy (PGP).

 

 

WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY?

The individuals at fabric8 are just as concerned about privacy as you. The personal information we request is used only to process orders and more accurately provide you with appropriate fabric8-related information. We do not sell, give away, or otherwise hustle your information to any third party for any reason.

If you receive an email from fabric8, it is because you joined the fabric8 mailing list either via the fabric8 site or a previous fabric8 order. To unsubscribe, please reply to the email with "farewell elfie" in the subject line, using the email address with which you subscribed.

When you upload images or text on to fabric8's website, any information you provide is used solely to distinguish and identify yourself.

We cannot be responsible for the privacy policy or practices of any sites linked from fabric8.

WHAT SHIPPING METHOD DO YOU USE?

Items ship as soon as they are available (within 1 hour - 2 days). Products that are made-to-order, however, may take up to 3 weeks for production and delivery.

fabric8's primary delivery service is the United States Postal Service (USPS) as it offers the best all-around time- and money-saving (i.e., guaranteed delivery x delivery time x cost) shipping methods worldwide. Our rates are based on actual shipping costs; we do not charge a handling fee. To determine shipping costs, order your desired items then use our "Shipping Calcul8r" to view options and prices.

For your security and ours, package deliveries require a signature. Please be sure to provide an alternate shipping address (always include any company name and any suite/floor number) if you will not be home to accept your fabric8 order. If no one is present to accept, the postal carrier will leave a notice in your mailbox stating that the package is awaiting pick-up at your local post office.

In the case of a return or exchange, we cannot reimburse the cost of initial shipping or the cost of shipping the return. However, we will cover the cost of shipping the first exchange.

 

 

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY ORDER?

Once you complete an order, an email receipt will be automatically sent to you. We will send a second email, your order confirmation, when everything has been properly processed. A third email will be sent once your order is on the way. Since email is our main method of correspondence, please always use an active email address and check it often.

You can also always track your order and account info using our online Account Manager.

 

 

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

All items purchased from fabric8 can be returned for the full purchase price (excluding shipping) within 7 days of receipt, and for exchange within 14 days of receipt. Software and opened CDs or vinyl from $oundbuyz cannot be returned. If the item is a gift, we can make special arrangements prior to the shipping of the initial order.

Please email to notify us of the return BEFORE sending it back so we can give you proper mailing instructions as well as note the date. Returned items must have all of the tags and labels attached as well as be in the same, perfect condition they were sent to you.

Yes. If you are interested in selling the goods of any designer featured on fabric8 at your retail establishment, please email us for a list of wholesale prices and minimums.
