About VRML
This site is designed using VRML, a three-dimensional modelling language which allows you to interact with objects in 3 dimensional space. It is optimized for Netscape's Live3D or Silicon Graphics' Cosmo Player 2.0, and the files are in a gzip format.

For a fully tactile experience of the ring species presented, click on "VRML mode" in the top left frame. Once in VRML mode, you can view each ring from 360 degrees using several navigational methods.

If you prefer a guided tour, choose the "view" method in Netscape Navigator and click either up or down to see four pre-selected views. If you are using SGI's Cosmo Player, go to the "viewpoints" menu to see the pre-selected views, or simply press "page up" or "page down" on your keyboard.

To return to the HTML page, move your mouse on to the top of the 3D ring. You will encounter a sign which says "Return to HTML mode". Click once there.

You can view the ring styles by clicking on "styles" in the bottom left frame -- a specimen from the collection will be selected and displayed randomly for your viewing pleasure.

We hope you enjoy your VRML experience.
